Junkers Ju-188 is a German, twin-engine, medium bomber with a metal structure in a dorsal wing configuration with a classic tail. The Ju-188 was a far-reaching modification of the Ju-88. The genesis of the Ju-188 reaches the requirements set by the Technical Department of the Reich Ministry of Aviation in 1939, for the new tactical bomber, which was to replace the Ju-88 and He-111 in the future. The Junkers Works, after the failure of the Ju-288 program, began a far-reaching modification of the Ju-88, which resulted in the creation of the Ju-188V2 prototype, which took off in January 1943. In the same gloom, mass production began, which lasted until 1944. Depending on the version, the Ju-188 was powered by BMW 801C-2 or Jumo 211 engines. Junkers Ju-188 served as a bomber, long-range torpedo plane and reconnaissance machine. There were also attempts to create a night fighter (Ju-188R) from it, but in this role the Ju-88G definitely gave way and mass production was not started. Throughout the war, around 1,200 Ju-188s of all versions were produced. Technical data (version Ju-188E): length: 15m, wingspan: 22m, height: 4.4m, maximum speed: 499km / h, maximum range: 2190km, maximum ceiling 9500m, armament: fixed – 3 MG131 machine guns cal. 13mm and one 20mm MG151 cannon, sling – up to 3000 kg of bombs.
